Birth-5 Saginaw County is, in part, funded by a Michigan Department of Education Great Parents, Great Start (GP/GS) program grant. Great Parents, Great Start is a parent education program for families with children ages 0-5.  It is funded through section 388.1632j of the School Aid Act.


In partnership with the City of Saginaw Public Schools (Birth-5 Program) and MSU Extension, SISD's GP/GS program provides the five following required components:

1. Information on child development.

2. Methods to enhance parent/child interactions, including reading to
  children for 30 minutes each day.

3. Learning opportunities to promote intellectual, physical and social growth.

4. Promotion of access to needed community services.

5. Promoting healthy relationships.
