The main purpose of The Murphy Farm: Education!

The Murphy Farm is part of the Hartley Outdoor Education Center, which operates under the administration of the Saginaw Intermediate School District.  The Murphy Farm was purchased by the S.I.S.D. in 1986.

Our main goal is to educate students in our unique learning environment, in accordance with the educational guidelines that readily apply here.

Most of our visitors are elementary students (along with their teachers, aides, parents, and relatives) that come here to learn about and participate in rural Michigan life.

We have a wide variety of learning experiences for you to choose from, including farm, home, and school life from the not-so-distant past.

For students who are limited to staying in their own classroom, we also offer a real-time virtual field trip to our animal barn, in which you can see us and talk to us on-line to learn about and discuss the animals we have here on the farm.

Regardless of how you choose to visit us, let us know how we can cater to your specific educational needs!

For more information about our programs, call (989) 865-6295, or write to Hartley Outdoor Education Center, 12633 Beaver Rd. St. Charles, MI 48655, or  click here to link to the Murphy Farm contact page to send us an e-mail .

We look forward to seeing you here

in the future

as well as

in the pasture!
