There are many Michigan laws pertaining to the digital world that were created for our safety against online sexual predators, but now those same laws can be used against teens who misuse the digital world.  Many of those laws come with severe penalties.  There is a disconnect between what teenagers think about the use of various mobile apps and what adults – and the criminal justice system – think about that use.  Sexting – whether it is texts and/or photos – and passing it on to others, can result in long term destructive consequences that follow the teenager for the rest of their life.  Parents, there are apps our teens can use that actually hide the sites they are accessing!  They don’t think what can happen, until they get caught.  This forum is to inform and enlighten parents and the community about this illicit use, and provide parents with some technological tips to monitor our teenagers use.
