PURPOSE
To ensure the safe, orderly, and consistent arrival of students while maintaining secure learning environments for all children, families, and staff.
EXPECTATIONS
Building Security
Buildings remain in secure mode during the school day, except for designated arrival and dismissal windows.
All visitors and families must enter through the main entrance.
Side and back doors remain locked and are not to be used for entry or exit during arrival, except for approved staff.
Parent/Guardian Responsibilities
Parents/guardians are expected to escort their child(ren) to the designated drop-off area or classroom, depending on building procedures.
Parents/guardians must sign their child in at arrival and out at dismissal using the approved system (e.g., ChildPlus tablet or classroom sign-in sheet).
Parents/guardians arriving outside of arrival/dismissal windows must report to the office (or designated area), sign in, and wait for an escort to the classroom.
Staff Responsibilities
A designated staff member must be present at the entryway during arrival to monitor building access and greet families.
Family Service Advocates (FSAs), as well as clerical staff, assist with parent engagement, traffic flow, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
Teachers are responsible for verifying child attendance in ChildPlus and communicating any concerns immediately.
Staff will use designated communication systems/devices (e.g., walkie-talkies) during arrival/dismissal windows to ensure coverage and quick response to safety needs.
Late Arrivals
Families arriving after the designated arrival window must sign in at the office.
Children and parents are escorted to classrooms by staff unless building procedures state otherwise.
Chronic late arrivals will be documented and followed up by the principal and/or FSAs for support and attendance improvement planning.
Visitor Protocols
Visitors outside of drop-off/pick-up must sign in at the office, receive a visitor badge, and be logged in by office staff.
Visitors are escorted to their designated area by staff.
Visitors are escorted to the main office to sign out upon completion of the visit.
FSAs or designated staff monitor visitor movement in hallways and classrooms.
Visitor badges must be worn at all times and returned upon sign-out.
