The 7th graders at White Pine came out and participated in team building. The group needed to build a shelter with only one leader able to see but unable to use their hands, while the rest wore blindfolds. #SISD #HartleyOEC

Last week, Jon LeFevre, SISD Behavioral Support Specialist, conducted a valuable professional development session at Hartley Outdoor Education Center. Saginaw Public School District Admin team joined us this past Monday for a day of team building. They worked hard as a team to develop better communication, reinforced trust, and laughed their way through a photo hunt. Stronger teams for stronger communities. #SISD #HartleyOEC

During a recent visit to Beaver Island, Eric Rutherford, the Program Director of Hartley OEC, engaged in a Population Ecology session. This session explored various aspects of the snake population, including population size, density, distribution, and dispersion. #SISD





The Carrollton Public Schools Administration team joined the Hartley staff for a half day of team build and planning time to ensure a successful start to their school year! #HartleyOEC #SaginawISD




Recently Hartley OEC Program Director, Eric Rutherford, spent several days at the CMU Biological Center attending the Beaver Island Educator Exchange. Topics included student driven learning, macroinvertebrates, snake population equality, invasive species, and ELA in science.


Hartley is thrilled to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Stahlecker and the Valley Lutheran Art Students for their brilliant work on our new murals. It's been an incredible opportunity to collaborate with these talented local high school artists, and we couldn't be happier with the results! #SISD

Summer school has arrived @HartleyOEC! Excited to partner once again with Saginaw Public Schools to offer a unique blend of hands-on learning and exploration. Students are connecting with nature, fostering an understanding of the environment while building academic skills.





Everyone had a great time was had by all during White Pine's summer school trip to Hartley. The group focused on building trust, effective communication, and self-awareness. Evidently, taking a group photo of teens is its own team-building activity. 😉#HartleyOEC #SISD




Carrollton Middle School brought over 20 students to Hartley for a week-long STEM and Leadership Camp. Students searched the water for aquatic life, learned to shoot archery, and put their leadership skills to the test. We can't wait for an even better camp next year! #HartleyOEC
