celebrating leadership

Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) proudly announces the retirement of Brigette Uhrich, Principal of the Transitions Center, effective August 29, 2025. Brigette concludes her remarkable 25-year career in education, all of which has been in service to the Transitions Center, leaving a lasting legacy of commitment, student advocacy, and compassionate leadership.

Brigette began her career at the Transitions Center as a classroom teacher, where her passion for special education and her belief in the potential of all students quickly became evident. She later served as Assistant Principal before accepting the role of Principal, where she has led with dedication and vision. Under her leadership, the Transitions Center has continued to thrive as a place where students with disabilities are empowered to live fulfilling lives, including being employed, living with greater independence, and developing the confidence to advocate for themselves.

“One of my greatest joys has been watching our students grow into their independence and embrace opportunities that once felt out of reach,” Brigette shared. “It has been my honor to cheer them on through every success and challenge, and to work alongside a staff that shares my commitment to their futures.”

David Krantz, Executive Director of Special Education at Saginaw ISD, reflected on Brigette’s impact: “Brigette’s unwavering belief in her students’ abilities and her steadfast advocacy have shaped the Transitions Center into the supportive, empowering environment it is today. She led with a perfect balance of compassion, high expectations, and a sense of humor that inspired both staff and students.”

Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier also expressed his appreciation: “Brigette has poured her heart into the Transitions Center for her entire career. Her leadership has transformed lives, not only for the students she has served but for the countless families and staff members who have worked alongside her. We are grateful for her years of service and wish her nothing but the best in retirement.”

The Saginaw ISD community is invited to join in celebrating Brigette’s retirement and honoring her years of service to the students, families, and staff of the Transitions Center. Her influence and leadership will be felt for years to come.
