Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) is proud to announce that Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier has been inducted into the inaugural class of Central Michigan University’s (CMU) Doctorate in Educational Leadership Hall of Fame (2025).

The Hall of Fame, launched after more than 18 months of planning and first announced in July 2024 during the program’s 25th Anniversary celebration, recognizes graduates who demonstrate exceptional leadership, impact, and innovation in education.

“We selected Dr. Jeffrey Collier as our inaugural Alumnus of the Year because of his unwavering dedication to advancing educational opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and the broader community throughout his distinguished career,” shared Dr. Sarah Marshall, Professor and Department Chairperson of Counseling, Educational Leadership, & Higher Education at CMU. “Leading with integrity and inclusiveness, he exemplifies excellence and serves as an inspiration for doctoral students and educators.”

In announcing the recognition, Dr. Beth Feiten, Chair of CMU’s Doctor of Education Alumni Advisory Board, noted that Dr. Collier was chosen from a strong field of candidates for his exceptional leadership and meaningful contributions to PreK–12 education. She highlighted his trajectory as a teacher, principal, local superintendent, and now ISD superintendent, as well as his success in initiating millages, forging partnerships, and mentoring future leaders.

“Dr. Collier’s innovative spirit and global perspective stood out,” Dr. Feiten added. “From co-creating Michigan’s Talent Together teacher apprenticeship consortium to collaborating with CMU on a new Green STEM preschool model, he exemplifies the level of impact we hope all educational leaders aspire to.”

Reflecting on the recognition, Dr. Collier shared, “It is humbling to be recognized as part of the inaugural Hall of Fame class. My time at CMU helped shape me as a servant leader and reinforced my belief that leadership is about lifting others up, creating opportunities, and empowering teams to achieve more together than we ever could alone. This recognition is not just about me, it’s a celebration of the incredible colleagues, mentors, and communities I have had the privilege to serve alongside throughout my career.”

Dr. Collier joins Dr. Heather Maietta, Professor at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts, as part of this first-ever Hall of Fame class.
