After 31 years in education, Kevin Summey, Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) at Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD), will retire effective September 30, 2025. Kevin has spent the last seven years with Saginaw ISD, where his leadership strengthened career pathways, expanded early college opportunities, and built lasting partnerships across the region.
Kevin joined Saginaw ISD in 2018 as the Great Lakes Bay Early College (GLBEC) Program Director before becoming Director of Career and Technical Education in 2023. In these roles, he was instrumental in supporting the CTE millage consortium and serving as the Career Education Planning District Administrator (CEPD) for the county. Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier reflected on Kevin’s impact, saying, “Kevin’s leadership has been instrumental in advancing CTE across Saginaw County. His ability to build strong partnerships with districts, colleges, and community organizations has created lasting opportunities for our students. Beyond his professional expertise, Kevin leads with humility and heart, always keeping students at the center of his work. We are grateful for his years of service and wish him nothing but the best in retirement.”
Throughout his tenure, Kevin’s work was marked by collaboration and vision. Executive Director of Instructional Services Victor Bugni noted, “Kevin’s collaborative approach brought districts, business leaders, and higher education together in meaningful ways. He helped create programs that will benefit students well into the future and we are thankful for the foundation he leaves behind.”
For Kevin, retirement brings reflection and gratitude. “It has been a privilege to serve students and families throughout my career, and especially these last seven years at Saginaw ISD,” he shared. “The partnerships we’ve built, the milestones we’ve achieved, and the opportunities created for students are what I will always carry with me. I am thankful for the colleagues and friends who have shared this journey and look forward to continuing to support education in new ways.”
The Saginaw ISD community extends its appreciation to Kevin Summey for his service, leadership, and dedication to students. His influence will continue to be felt through the programs and partnerships he helped shape, and we wish him well as he begins this new chapter.
