Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) is proud to recognize Inaara Amin, a seventh-grade student at Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy (SASA), as the recipient of the 2026 Superintendent's Choice Purchase Award at the 37th Annual Saginaw County Art Exhibit.
The annual exhibit showcases hundreds of pieces of artwork created by K-12 students from across Saginaw County and remains one of Michigan's longest-running student art exhibitions. The event celebrates student creativity and artistic achievement while providing opportunities for young artists to be recognized for their work.
Inaara was honored during the May 19, 2026, meeting of the Saginaw ISD Board of Education for her artwork titled Me, Inside Out. Created in tempera paint, the piece features a portrait of one of Inaara's classmate rendered in vibrant shades of blue, red, orange, and yellow. Inaara attended the recognition alongside her family and art teacher, Sarah Beltran, as Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier presented the Superintendent's Choice Purchase Award.
As part of the award, Saginaw ISD purchased the artwork for its permanent collection. The piece will be displayed at the Saginaw ISD Administration Offices on Barnard Road, joining a collection of 12 student works selected by Saginaw ISD superintendents throughout the years.
"The Saginaw County Art Exhibit is one of my favorite traditions each year because it gives us the opportunity to celebrate the incredible talent of students across our county," said Dr. Collier. "It was a privilege to select Inaara's work for this year's Superintendent's Choice Purchase Award. We are proud to display student artwork in our Administration Offices, where staff, visitors, and community members can enjoy it for years to come, and I hope this recognition is just one of many accomplishments ahead for Inaara."
The Superintendent's Choice Purchase Award is one of several honors presented through the annual exhibit and reflects Saginaw ISD's commitment to recognizing and celebrating student achievement in the arts.
