Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) proudly announces that Michael (Mike) Lytle has been selected to serve as its new Executive Director of Instructional Services. Lytle officially began serving in the role on June 8, and his employment was approved by the Saginaw ISD Board of Education on June 22.
Following a comprehensive search process that attracted a strong pool of highly qualified candidates, Lytle emerged as the top candidate. His selection reflects Saginaw ISD's continued commitment to attracting exceptional educational leaders who will expand opportunities for students and strengthen support for local school districts across the Great Lakes Bay Region.
For Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier, Lytle's selection reflects Saginaw ISD's commitment to instructional excellence, collaborative leadership, and ensuring every student has access to high-quality educational opportunities.
"Throughout the interview process, Mike consistently demonstrated a student-centered approach to leadership, a deep understanding of instructional systems, and a genuine commitment to supporting educators," said Dr. Collier. "His experience spans every level of public education, from the classroom to the superintendent's office, which gives him a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing our schools. We're excited to welcome Mike to our leadership team and know his collaborative leadership style will strengthen the services and support we provide to our local districts."
Saginaw ISD's Instructional Services Department provides leadership, resources, and specialized support to educators and school leaders throughout Saginaw County. The department partners with local districts to strengthen teaching and learning through professional development, curriculum support, school improvement services, instructional coaching, educational technology integration, assessment support, literacy initiatives, and innovative programming designed to improve student achievement.
As public education continues to evolve, the Executive Director of Instructional Services plays a critical role in helping local districts strengthen instructional practices, improve student outcomes, and ensure every learner has access to high-quality educational opportunities aligned with Saginaw ISD's mission to serve, innovate, and empower.
Lytle brings 27 years of experience in K–12 education and a comprehensive understanding of instructional leadership at every level of the educational system. Most recently, he served as Superintendent of LakeVille Community Schools, where he led district-wide strategic initiatives focused on student achievement, organizational improvement, and community engagement.

As Executive Director of Instructional Services, Lytle will provide leadership for instructional programs and educational initiatives that support students, educators, and school leaders across Saginaw County. As Saginaw ISD continues implementing its Strategic Compass, he will play an important role in advancing Goal #1: Strengthen Saginaw ISD's Position as a Leader in Education and Services. His leadership will help shape the district's long-term instructional vision while strengthening collaboration with local districts and expanding opportunities for students across Saginaw County
ABOUT MIKE LYTLE
Mike Lytle is a lifelong learner who was born and raised in Michigan's Great Lakes Bay Region. His deep roots in the community have shaped a career dedicated to education, service, and student success. Throughout his professional journey, Mike has remained committed to continuous growth, believing that learning is a lifelong process that extends beyond the classroom and into every aspect of leadership and community engagement.
With 27 years of experience in K–12 education, Mike has served in a variety of roles, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the educational system. He began his career as a classroom teacher, teaching both fifth- and eighth-grade students, and developed a passion for helping young people achieve their full potential. He later transitioned into school leadership, serving as a principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, gaining valuable experience supporting students, staff, and families across diverse learning environments. Building on this foundation, Mike served for seven years as Superintendent of LakeVille Community Schools.
Mike holds an Education Specialist degree from the University of Michigan-Flint, with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction; a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership; and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University.

Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) is an educational service agency that provides effective and innovative leadership, services, resources, and programs throughout Saginaw County. Saginaw ISD provides career and technical education, early childhood, finance, human resources, instruction, pupil accounting, special education, technology, and transportation services.
