celebrating leadership

Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) would like to celebrate Heather Richards, Healthy Families America Program Manager Michigan Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Program (MI-APPP) Project Director, for leading our Healthy Families America staff in an intense accreditation process this summer. The team included Rosa Davis, Rita Medel, Michelle Sanders, Nellanita Whitehead, Julie Kozan, Julie Banks, Kelly Shay of Saginaw Public Schools, and Tamara Tucker of CAN Council. "Thank you to everyone for your hard work preparing for and completing this tedious process. This was an extreme team effort, and I don't think I've ever been prouder of our team than I was throughout this process. I'm blessed to walk alongside you all and serve families in Saginaw County,” said Ms. Richards.

The Healthy Families America National Office staff completed their review of Saginaw ISD’s program and found that it is in adherence to this standard. Ms. Richards was notified of the achievement by Juanita Arnold, Implementation and Accreditation Specialist for Healthy Families America National Office of Prevent Child Abuse America.

Healthy Families America:

Saginaw County Healthy Families America (SCHFA) promotes family well-being and assists in reducing abuse and neglect of children in Saginaw County through family-focused and empathic support. Family support and resources specialists partner with parents to strengthen family relationships by providing long-term home visitation services. Families typically enroll in prenatal services within the first few weeks of birth to receive support when they need it most. Additionally, group-based services are offered monthly to families to encourage safe, family-friendly interactions among community members.
