First year teacher, Linnea Nelson, uses a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of her students with autism. Here, she is seen utilizing the interactive whiteboard to teach her students the concept of “opposites.” Linnea is currently working towards becoming a fully certified special education teacher by using an alternative pathway to certification. These alternative programs were established by the State of Michigan to address the significant teacher shortage, particularly in areas identified as high need such as special education and early childhood.
