Millet students enjoyed traveling to Midland Center for the Performing Arts to see the musical, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus,” which is based on the book by Mo Willems. Our students enjoyed interacting with the actors by clapping and singing. They had excellent seats up close to the stage too. Everyone had fun enjoying the musical and represented Millet in a positive way by their good behavior!

Registration for SISD Applicant Bootcamp is open!

Midland Center for the Performing Arts, along with a very generous benefactor, made it possible for Millet’s students to attend the musical, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.” We all had excellent seats right up front of the stage and thoroughly enjoyed the musical. All of the students were very well behaved and represented Millet in a very positive way!

Hartley OEC had the pleasure to welcome out Ashley Middle School last week. One of their class selections was Michigan Mammals. How many Michigan mammals can you identify in these photos?

At the Transitions Center tonight, Denny Wickham from our School To Work team held a Delta Project Orientation for students and families interested in participating in the Delta Project. This college prep program prepares students from around the county to navigate post secondary education. Students can participate from 10th-12th grade in bi-monthly workshops, Delta College tours and career readiness activities. This will be the 16th cohort of students that will participate in the program.

In recognition of World Water Day, Millet students delivered water to each classroom. World Water Day is observed on March 22 every year to educate about the importance of water to the whole world and to raise awareness about the importance of clean drinking water.

She also brought special books as gifts for our students to keep. Our class enjoyed listening to Ms. Pape share her passion of reading with us all! :)

Congratulations to Orange Spot Recipient Christine Thompson, Technical Support Specialist. Christine was nominated by Denise Leibold who wrote, "I put a help ticket in to Christine to help me with Thrillshare so I could post about positive events at Millet. Christine contacted me right away and worked diligently until she resolved the issue. Christine is such an asset to our Help Desk and to all of us. I truly appreciate Christine!

March 20th is the first day of Spring, but is also World Frog Day...a day to bring awareness to and celebrate these water-loving creatures. There are over 6,000 species of frogs throughout the world, but here at Hartley we have seen/heard 6 different species. We just found our first one yesterday (Wood Frog) and will soon begin hearing the mating calls coming from the ponds, ditches and marsh. FYI Abraham Lincoln nicknamed his youngest son "Tad" because when he was born his head was so big it reminded him of the big head/body of a tadpole (baby frog).
