Across the state, funding has been provided to support regional childcare coalitions. These coalitions aim to provide opportunities to bring economic development and early childhood leaders together to accelerate community-level efforts to address Michigan’s childcare crisis .
The Great Start to Quality Eastern Resource Center has been deeply involved in three of these coalitions within their Eastern Region service area. Recently, the GLSSC (Genesee, Lapeer, Shiawassee, and St. Clair) coalition held multiple events bringing together local Economic Development Administrators, business partners, and early childhood professionals to talk about how high-quality child care and preschool supports our workforce.
These recent events took place on the Huron Lady in St. Clair, the Lavender Field in Lapeer, and at the Sloan Museum in Flint. At the Sloan event we heard from Pulse and their Employer Roadmap "When Early Childhood Works, We all Work". https://pulseroadmap.org/
