We're continuing to celebrate AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Month! By modeling in everyday situations, we teach users where words are, what they mean, and how to combine them! For more information, please visit: https://www.sisd.cc/page/assistive-technology

AAC Everyday...All Day. By 18 months babies have heard 4380 hours of spoken language and we don't expect them to be fluent speakers yet. If AAC learners only see symbols modeled for communication twice weekly for 20-30 minutes, it will take 84 years for them to have the same exposer to aided language as an 18 month old has to spoken language.

Ann Marie shared her expertise in connecting employers to educators and the importance of building industry connections through employer partnerships. Having employer partnerships is crucial to the development of students' career paths. Students need to experience real-world work opportunities to bridge the gap between education and career readiness. #cteworks #careerdevelopment #ourstory #ourctestory #MiHSE

Students in Ms. Dawn's Jerome Preschool class enjoyed reading Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss and enjoyed creating their apple counting art. They explored apples further with a sink-or-float activity and found that apples float, no matter their color or size. The class also discovered that cutting an apple one way reveals a star while cutting it another way shows an oval. This hands-on lesson helped them see how apples are alike and different. #SaginawISD #OurStory
