Over the weekend, Vice President of the Board of Education Dr. Katherine Ellison and her family enjoyed the Summer Kickoff event at the Castle Museum, which featured an ISD school bus as part of their Touch-a-Truck. We love being out in the Saginaw community! #CastleFun #CommunityPartners

The Wellness Committee encourages the use of these hydration hacks, for a healthier summer!
Hydration levels impact everything from temperature regulation to organ function and cognitive performance. As the weather heats up, replenishing water lost through sweat—whether from working out, enjoying the outdoors, or engaging in everyday activities—becomes that much more important!
Warning Signs of Dehydration -
• Extreme thirst
• Brain fog, dizziness, or confusion
• Rapid heartbeat or breathing
• Muscle cramps
Tips for Staying Hydrated this Summer-
• Get ahead of thirst: Drink before feeling thirsty, especially pre- and post-exercise.
• Track fluid intake: Aim to drink one ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight each day, but remember individual needs will vary. Consult your doctor for a personalized recommendation.
• Carry a reusable bottle: Invest in a water bottle you love and don’t leave the house without it (pro tip: find one with fill lines that coincide with hours of the day for easy tracking).
• Take it easy: Refrain from strenuous physical activity on hotter or more humid days.
• Favor hydrating fluids: Avoid drinks high in sugar or caffeine as they can be dehydrating.
• Enjoy water-dense foods: Eat foods that are higher in water content like fruits and veggies.
• Add electrolytes: Maintain your body’s electrolyte balance with sports drinks and electrolyte powders (without excess sugar) or opt for a natural option like coconut water.
Stay safe, and stay hydrated this summer!

Last week, students from Carrollton Middle School visited Hartley Outdoor Education Center and participated in a dynamic STEM experience focused on force, motion, potential energy, and kinetic energy. Throughout the session, students worked collaboratively to design and build roller coasters, applying engineering principles and scientific thinking to test how variables such as height, slope, and friction affected speed and energy transfer. #HartleyOEC #STEM
