Pre-Licensure and Start Up Grants are part of Caring for MI Future, a $100 million strategy to open 1,000 new or expanded childcare businesses by the end of 2024, and more information can be found at www.michigan.gov/cclb/caring-for-mi-future. First place will be traveling to Washington DC in May, to compete against all the other 1st place winners across the USA at the National ProStart Invitationals.
Students had to develop a restaurant concept, menu, design, marketing and present it to 5 different panel of judges. They were also judged on critical thinking.
Students walked away with $3000 to 12,000 in scholarships, depending on the contest they placed in.
Two SCC alumni students were judges, speakers, and their recipes were used for our banquet Sunday night. (They could not judge our competitions) - Jacob Austin and Mason LaDouce. Maria Austin was also featured as a mentor and employer that takes ProStart students. These 3 talked to students about the industry and how students could have careers. Jacob Austin stated over half his staff at the Saginaw Country Club is from SCC.
