Did you know that Hartley Outdoor Education Center has a Federal Bird Banding Permit issued by the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center -Bird Banding Laboratory which allows us to band all species except waterfowl, eagles and any threatened or endangered species? This past week for the students from Bryant Elementary the staff captured and banded a male White-breasted nuthatch! What an awesome hands-on learning experience for the students.

Free Lead Testing event today from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. at SISD Head Start - Claytor, 3200 Perkins Street. Early detection is key! Chronic exposure to lead can damage a child’s body and brain, causing developmental delays and neurological disabilities.
