Students at Millet Learning Center are working hard in our new and improved on campus laundry job site. The job site is a great opportunity for our students to work on daily living skills in real time.
On Friday, Ms. Weiss and Miss Barr held a resume workshop for their students in Work Based Learning. During the workshop, members of the School to Work Team discussed with students the purpose and importance of a strong resume and also assisted students in beginning to create their own resume.

Friday was Pink Out Day at the SISD Transitions Center. Mrs. Kowalski's class showed up and pinked out! #sisdstrong #soarprogram #pinkout #breastcancerawarenessmonth

Mrs. Spurling and Mrs. Tabacskos' classes have been participating in "Cook Offs". So far they have completed a soup and a dessert challenge. Students in both classes as well as a few "special guest judges" voted on a winner. Based on these pictures, everyone was a winner! #SaginawISD #soarprogram #cookoff

Students in Mrs. Kowalski's class took time out of their usual classes to draw. One student even connect their drawing with the Pink Out Day. #Saginawisd #soarprogram #pinkout #workhardplayhard

Congratulations to Stacey Smyczynski on her Orange Spot Nomination!
She was nominated by Jon LeFevre who said, "On extremely short notice, Stacey agreed to step in and present two sessions during the afternoon breakouts at our Countywide PD Day. She took time out of her Sunday evening to learn the information and made arrangements to get all the materials that were needed. Stacey’s willingness to support her team in this way benefitted many SISD employees as well as hundreds of participants who were able to get the content they had registered for. Stacey continually goes out of her way to be a fantastic colleague but on this day she truly went above and beyond and it was very much appreciated. Thanks for all you do, Stacey!"

Understand your "Why." Remember our purpose: Serve, Innovate, and Empower. #SaginawISD @JeffreyJCollier

Congratulations Anthony Jakes!!!
Mr. Jakes was nominated by Kristi Tabacsko. She stated that "I had a male student who had ripped his pants in a very "intimate" area. The student went and changed with a pair of pants from the wellness center. Anthony returned 15 minutes later with repaired pants for the young man. I am not sure how this transpired...but Anthony knew the student wanted to wear his own pants and went and sewed them for him. This is so out of his "job description" but why he is such a positive asset to our team. Thank you for taking care of our students and going above and beyond! I appreciate all that you do."
