Our Instructional Services team hosted our first "Lunch and Learn" series yesterday for district leaders! This session focused on the recent legislation on dyslexia. #SaginawISD

It was an exciting day for Carrollton High School students as they got hands-on with their futures, meeting skilled trades professionals and exploring rewarding careers. Representatives from Local 7 Sheet Metal Workers, IBEW Local 557, Local 85 Plumbers, Steamfitters & HVAC Techs, Local 706 Carpenters, Greater Michigan Construction Academy, and Delta College Apprenticeship Operations were there, sharing insights, answering questions, and giving students a real feel for life in the trades. From apprenticeships to high-demand skills, students saw firsthand the powerful, exciting career paths waiting for them in the skilled trades. Our Director of Career and Technical Education, Kevin Summey, would like to nominate Amanda Koch, SISD Special Populations Coordinator, for an Orange Spot Recognition. Chico Ramos, School to Work Specialist, and Jennifer Zimmerman Schaller, Vocational Consultant, both part of the Saginaw ISD Special Education program volunteered to help judge students at the Saginaw Career Complex who are competing in the job interview/employment application for SkillsUSA. Their expertise in working with students makes them excellent judges for students participating in Career and Technical Student Organizations. Led by our very own CTE Director, Kevin Summey, and Business Partnership Consultant, Ann Marie Batkoski, the team drilled down on best practices, student credentialing, and scholarships offered by SME and new updates from Edge Factor Together.
