March 20th is the first day of Spring, but is also World Frog Day...a day to bring awareness to and celebrate these water-loving creatures. There are over 6,000 species of frogs throughout the world, but here at Hartley we have seen/heard 6 different species. We just found our first one yesterday (Wood Frog) and will soon begin hearing the mating calls coming from the ponds, ditches and marsh. FYI Abraham Lincoln nicknamed his youngest son "Tad" because when he was born his head was so big it reminded him of the big head/body of a tadpole (baby frog).

March is designated as National Reading Month to motivate people of all ages to read every day! Reading is fun and can provide an endless list of benefits regardless of your age. Pick up a new book, old favorite book or take a walk with your children and READ!
