To celebrate Veterans Day, work-based learning student Julian Morris spoke with Early Childhood Services Program Secretary Leeann Harvey about her time in the Air Force. Leeann spoke about some of her favorite memories during those years. "One of my most memorable experiences was my first tour. I was in Germany, and serving in a different country while being able to sightsee and feel as if I'm in a whole new world is something I'll never forget." The military prepared her for working within the Saginaw ISD and settling back into civilian life. She says, "My time taught me how to be tolerant of others coming from all different places and backgrounds. I've learned to be friendlier than I used to be, and the management skills I have now help me to be a good Secretary." Leeann also gave us some insight into her thoughts on the support veterans get today. "I feel it's mixed. People are trying. The Veterans Administration is doing what they can, and people won't truly understand what it's like. We may not get all of the respect we deserve, but it's changing, and I see the supportive effort."
Saginaw ISD would like to thank Leeann Harvey and all veterans for their service! 🎖️#SaginawISD #VeteransDay
